This half term the children in Class 3 are working on their hockey skills!
We have been busy learning how to control the ball; including pushing the ball, stopping it and moving it around the cones carefully using our sticks.

We have been learning how to control the ball both on a racket and on the floor, as well as travelling with a ball in different ways.
A group of pupils enjoyed a super day out at Wimbledon. They travelled by train and saw some amazing tennis on Court 1, to include the Venus Williams match.
A brilliant day was had by all and the children were incredibly well behaved.
Children from 5 primary schools across the DLP enjoyed a brilliant afternoon of Aesthetic activities on Fri. 26th January.
The activity stations were all led by Year 9 & 10 Sport Leaders from Dawlish Community College. The leaders were so enthusiastic and displayed a great sense of fun and maturity in their approach to the afternoon. This really encouraged all the youngsters to take part and enjoy themselves.
A cold dreary January morning was a perfect way to start the second of Dartmoor School Sport Partnership’s Young Play leader conferences – as they were looking at ‘Wet Play’ ideas in one of the workshops.
On Friday 1st December 157 children from the seven DLP primary schools braved the fresh cold but sunny morning to take part in the first Cross Country races organised by the Dartmoor School Sport Partnership.
The event took place on the fields and grass banks around Dawlish Leisure Centre. The race course was set out to make an interesting and challenging course suitable for each age group.
Leaders from Dawlish Community College marshalled the event ensuring all pupils were motivated and stayed on track. A group of the leaders took it in turns to run at the back of each race and helped those who needed that extra bit of encouragement.
A fresh autumn day at Dawlish Leisure Centre was a great start to a wonderful morning of enthusiastic pupils and staff. Five primary schools attended the first of Dartmoor School Sport Partnership’s series of three young Play Leader conferences of this academic year.
On arrival, the children were asked to create a small game with minimal equipment and space. Pupils then shared their ideas bravely in front of each other. Already we could see their creativity and leadership skills on display! (more…)
Great Britain’s Paralympic goalkeeper Dan James visited Cockwood School last week and led the children through a circuit of exercise, teaching them the importance of fitness and persevering to achieve goals.
A great afternoon and a fantastic way to exercise! It was amazing to learn about Dan’s achievements at the Paralympics – a real inspiration. (more…)
The school enjoyed a super Sports Day on the village green. As always, the event was well attended and the children competed against each other with huge levels of enthusiasm.
Well done to Powderham House for winning on the day.
On Monday 26th June teams from across the Dawlish Learning Partnership arrived at Teignmouth Community School to participate in the KS2 Athletics tournament, organised by the Dartmoor School Sport Partnership.
The competition consisted of 8 different events, which pupils participated in on a carousel, and then a competitive relay to finish.
